All Hail King JESUS!

by Dave Everett on June 15, 2019

The Book of Revelation is not a revelation of doom and gloom. It is not a revelation of the tribulation. It is not a revelation of the antichrist. It is a revelation of a Person (Rev. 1:1).

It is a Revelation of JESUS!

John was instructed to: "Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this."

This verse divides the book of Revelation into three major parts:

  1. That which you have seen. (Rev. 1)
  2. That which are. (Rev. 2-3)
  3. That which WILL BE HEREAFTER. (Rev. 4-22)

Therefore, in our fifth session of studying the Book of Revelation we conclude our series by discussing the things that should take place hereafter. Immediately after John writes down the Message of Jesus to the seven churches in Asia. John begins to write down the things that will come.

"After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter." (Rev. 4:1)

In a similar manner that Paul describes a man who was caught up into heaven (2 Cor. 12:2-3), John begins to describe how he was caught up into heaven and sees the Throne of God (Rev 4:2).

Then chapter 5 begins to describe from heaven's perspective, one of the greatest events that ever transpired in all history. John saw lying on the hand of Him Who was seated on the throne a Scroll, closed and sealed with seven seals. Seeing this revelation caused John to weep bitterly with a deep godly sorrow (2 Cor. 7:9-11), because John knew that something profound was locked within this book that he and all believers needed to know. But no one was able to open the Scroll or look at its contents.

"Then one of the [twenty-four] elders said to me, 'Stop weeping! Look closely, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome and conquered! He can open the scroll and [break] its seven seals.'" (Rev. 5:5, AMP)

It is my opinion, that this Scroll is the Title Deed of the earth. John saw Jesus,  the Worthy Lamb Who was slain,  standing on the Throne because He had prevailed in retrieving this Scroll from the right hand of God to open its seals.

"And He came and took the scroll from the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb (Christ)..." (Rev. 5:7-8, AMP)

Correspondingly, beginning in chapter 6,  John began to witness each seal being opened. Consequently, as each seal was opened, different things begin to happen on the earth.

Jesus said that many hearts: "
men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken." (Lk. 21:26)

Now please be reminded. The purpose of this book is not about revealing the things that will happen in the earth. The purpose of this book is to reveal Jesus! The purpose of this book is to produce grace and peace not fear.

Therefore, the purpose of this teaching series is Seeing Jesus in the Revelation. Therefore, as things begin to unfold in these last days, I want to exhort you to don't focus your eyes on the death and destruction. Don't focus on the antichrist and the false profit. Don't focus on the devil. Don't focus on the false economic and religious systems that will arise.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS!

Yes there will be an antichrist. Yes there will be a great war. Yes there will be a great famine. Yes there will be death. Yes there will be martyrs. Yes there will be a great earthquake. Yes things will happen on the earth. Yes things will happen on the sea. Yes things will happen on the fresh waters. Yes things will happen on the sun, moon and stars. Yes there will be tribulation.

BUT, KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS!

Everyone will be tempted to get their attention on everything that is happening. But don't focus your attention on the seals and the horses. Don't focus on the trumpets and the wars. Don't focus on the antichrist or the dragon. Don't focus on the things happening on earth and in the world.

I WANT YOU TO SEE JESUS!

We know these things will take place. But keep the main thing, the main thing.

THE REVELATION OF JESUS!

When all of these things are happening. See what Jesus is doing. Jesus is getting ready to take over the earth. Jesus will reign on the earth for 1,000 years of peace. We will reign with Him.

Jesus is removing things that would hinder the process of establishing peace on the earth.

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end..." (Is. 9:6-7)

Once the last trumpet of the last seal is sounded, the Scroll is finally opened, there were loud voices in heaven, saying:

"THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD HAVE BECOME THE KINGDOMS OF OUR LORD AND OF HIS CHRIST, AND HE SHALL REIGN FOREVER AND EVER!" (Rev. 11:15)

Jesus comes and reigns on  the earth. He puts all enemies under His feet (1 Cor. 15:23-26) and He wears the Victor's crown! Hallelujah!

Now if you will notice both Jesus (Rev. 19:11) and the antichrist (Rev. 6:2) have a white horse. The antichrist mimics the True Christ. So then, how do you know He is not the True Christ? His fruit follows his entry. When the antichrist arrives the fruit that follows is: war, famine, death and destruction.

However, when Jesus our Resurrected King arrives, in righteousness He judges and makes war. Jesus is not just coming for His Church, Jesus is coming with His Church as prophesied by Enoch, , Daniel,  and Zechariah (Jude 14; Dan. 7:10; Zech. 14:5).

We the Church are looking forward to our King's return with great hope and anticipation. We call the glorious appearing of the our Great God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, "Our Blessed Hope." Jesus is going to live and reign forever and we will live and reign forever with Him!

Hail our King!

The Apostle John was instructed by God to write what He saw, the things that are and the things which will be hereafter (Rev. 1:19). John saw Jesus the Savior of the world! John saw Jesus as the Resurrected King of Eternity! John saw Jesus walking among His Church, revealing His Message of unconditional love, grace and mercy. Even to the church in its worse condition, Jesus offers a relationship of eternal life with Him. John witnesses the Throne of God where Jesus the Worthy Lamb of God retrieved the Scroll and opened it seals, revealing things that will take place in the earth, removing those things which will hinder the establishment of His peace on the earth.

John saw and revealed Jesus as our Savior!
John saw and revealed Jesus as our Lord! John saw and revealed Jesus as our King!

Yes the antichrist will lead many nations away and come against Israel. But when Jesus comes with His saints in righteousness He will judge and make war  as the King of kings and the Lord of lords (Rev. 19:11-14)! Jesus will set His feet on Mt. Olives, go across the valley and go to the eastern gate to set up His Kingdom on the earth! Jesus will reign for 1,000 years, establishing peace on the earth and we will reign with Him!

WHAT A MARVELOUS THING!

Now please understand, Scripture is very clear: there are two resurrections, two judgments, and two deaths. If you are born twice, meaning you are born-again you will only die once (naturally). But if you are not born-again, meaning you have only been born once you will die twice (naturally and eternally in the Second Death).

In 2 Corinthians 5:9-11 and Romans 14:10 Paul speaks of the Judgment Seat of Christ. This is not a judgment of sinners but a judgment of saints. Those who believe on Jesus all go to the Judgment Seat of Christ where they will be judged for what they did with Jesus. It is a Rewards Seat. There, those who are in Christ will partake of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

In Revelation 20 John speaks of the Great White Throne Judgement. This is a judgment of unbelievers. Those who do not believe on Jesus or rejected Christ and His propitiation all go to the Great White Throne Judgment where they will be judged for their works apart from Christ. All will be cast into the Lake of Fire, this is the Second Death.

God wants none to go there but unfortunately many will refuse to believe in Jesus and many will refuse to receive Him.

Jesus taught us in John 5:24-25 that the time had “now come” that the spiritually dead (Eph. 2:1) would be resurrected to new life through faith in Him (Rom. 6:4).

However, in John 5:28-29 Jesus was clearly speaking of the resurrection of our physical bodies, that He said “the hour is coming,” but omitted “and now is.” The general resurrection of all the dead is still in the future, but spiritual rebirth is a reality now. When Jesus said “the hour is coming,” He was speaking of the resurrection at the end of the world (Acts 24:15; 1 Cor. 15:21; Rev. 20:5-6, 12).

In context, Jesus had just spoken of the miracle of someone being resurrected from spiritual death to new life in Jesus. Here He was saying if we are amazed at that, we will certainly be amazed when we see all the physically dead bodies resurrected at the end of the world.

Please note, no one is actually in the grave. The Bible does not teach a “soul sleep,” as some people try to make it say. At physical death, the soul and the spirit separate from the body (James 2:26, Rev. 6:9) and either go immediately to be with the Lord (Lk. 23:43; 2 Cor. 4:16-18; 5:1-10; Phil. 1:23) or to Hades (Mt. 5:22; Lk. 16:22-23). The physical body remains in the grave and returns to dust (Gen. 3:19).

The word “graves” distinguishes that Jesus was speaking about our physical bodies. Our physical bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our spirits and souls to spend eternity in either the New Jerusalem with Christ (Rev. 21:10-27) or the Lake of Fire with the devil and his angels (Rev. 20:14-15; 21:8).

Some might use this verse to say that where we go at the resurrection is based on our good works. But the entire New Testament teaches against that. The good work being spoken of is our confession of Jesus as our Lord and Savior (Rom. 10:9). That is the only good work that will grant anyone into heaven, and the sin of rejecting Jesus is the only sin that will send anyone to hell (Jn. 16:9).

A 1,000 year reign by Christ and His Church comes between this resurrection of the just and the resurrection of the wicked (Rev. 20:4-5; 12-15).

A 1,000 year reign by Christ and His Church comes between this resurrection of the just and the resurrection of the wicked (Rev. 20:4-5; 12-15).

After Jesus reigns with His Church for 1,000 years we are going to receive a new heaven and a new earth. Why? Sin has messed up this one too bad. Therefore, it can never get back to where it should be.

"Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." (2 Pt. 3:13)

HEAVEN IS A MARVELOUS PLACE!

There will be no more death. No more sorrow. No more crying. No more pain. The former things have passed away (Rev. 21:4). The best thing about heaven is:

JESUS IS THERE

However, the worse thing about hell is: No Jesus. In all reality, no one on earth knows what it is truly like to be completely void of the Presence of God. The Grace of God has affected the world and the earth since creation.

"The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works." (Ps. 145:9)

In heaven, we  will live in the Presence of our Savior and King forever! Only believers will be there. There will be no sin there.

"And there shall be no more curse!" (Rev. 22:3)

Complete redemption, full circle! The Bible began in Paradise at the Tree of Life and the River of God (Gen. 2:8-16) and the Bible ends in Paradise at the Tree of Life and the River of God (Rev. 22:1-3).

When Adam sinned, man was cursed. The woman was cursed. The serpent was cursed. The earth was cursed. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law (Gal. 3:13) But the curse of sin still has an effect on this earth. So why do bad things still happen to good people? The earth is affected by sin and Satan.

However, we are coming full circle. We are coming to the Throne of God, the River of God and the Tree of Life.

THERE WILL BE NO MORE CURSE!

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give
to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”
(Rev. 2:7)

True Paradise, Eternal Life is only found in knowing Jesus (Jn. 17:3) Jesus is our Savior. Jesus is our Lord. Jesus is our coming King!

In conclusion, Jesus speaks to His Church: "Surely I Am coming quickly." (Rev. 22:20) In other words, I here Jesus saying, "I'm coming, I'm coming, keep believing, keep believing." "

John saw Jesus as the Grace of God (Rev. 1). John saw Jesus reveal and offer grace to His Church (Rev. 2-3). Then John concludes his book on the Revelation of Jesus by saying, "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." (Rev. 22:21)

This is a book about Jesus. This is a book about Grace. Jesus is our Savior. Jesus is our Lord. Jesus is our King! Jesus is our Promise. Jesus is our Answer. Jesus is our everything.

A lot will take place in these last days. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus! Jesus will reign as King! We will reign with Him. Jesus is the Resurrected King of Eternity. Jesus is the Lord of His Church. Jesus is our soon and coming King!

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!" (Rev. 22:20)
